Calcium Carbonate (Calcite) Testing

Calcite (limestone) is a Mineral of Carbonate & Most stable Polymorph of Calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is normally white in color and soft, the hardness being only 3 in Mohr’s scale. Calcite is a common constituent of approx 10% of sedimentary rock is limestone. The availability of calcite is abundant. Rajasthan (especially Udaipur and Sirohi) has the largest share (50%) of calcite resources in India.

Use of calcite is dictated by the highest purity of CaCO3, as high as +98%, with the highest brightness and minimum inclusions. Its applications are in varying sizes from coarse to as fine as 10 to 2 microns.

The consumption of calcite in the Paint industry, cement, ceramic, glass, pesticides, construction material, abrasive, agricultural soil treatment, construction aggregate, pigment, pharmaceutical, manufacture of bleaching powder, mortar, cement, and preparation of fat lime, detergents, soaps, polymers, plastics etc.
